Amanda is a park and jam skater from Erie, Pennsylvania. She skated every weekend as a kid, but stopped in her teens and early 20s. In her late 20s, she found roller derby. After playing for a season, she decided it wasn’t for her. After a couple years off skates, Amanda met a boy who loved skateboarding and they were inseparable. Wanting to spend as much time together as possible, she started bringing her old derby skates to the skatepark and the streets. The rest is history. Amanda wasn’t content to just skate on the weekends. Living in one of the snowiest cities in the US and having no indoor skatepark closer than an hour’s drive away, she started skating daily in her local ymca’s gymnasium and weekly at the local rink. Here her love of rhythm/jam/artistic skating was born. She says one of the best things about roller skating is how many different styles there are and how much there is to learn. In the summer she loves going on road trips to different skateparks with her now husband.
Look out for them this summer at a skatepark near you!
