Smack Mamba
Today we welcome Kathleen "Smack Mamba" Macias to the BB Team. We are so proud to welcome another team member that gives so much back to the community.
Kathleen started skating at a young age, she was always the kid parents had to drag off the rink floor at birthday parties.
Kathleen rekindled her love of roller skating 6 years ago when she first went to an open recruitment night for Rocktown Rollers, she has recently transferred and found a new home with River City Roller Derby where she is primarily a jammer.
Her true passion is in park skating! Four years ago she saw the Chicks in Bowls movement beginning and wanted to be a part of things! She started the CIB Virginia chapter in 2014 and has been travelling the east coast ever since.
Kathleen believes skating has brought out her best self and she tries to incorporate her skating with community outreach projects.

Some of these projects include:
  • Creating an annual charity event through CIB Virginia called Carvefest which benefits area food banks
  • Raising money for a local free clinic while she skated a whopping 52 miles in 1 day to be the 1st roller skater to complete the Virginia Capital Trail
  • This fall she is volunteering her time to assist in teaching elementary students how to skateboard.
All Kathleen's free time is dedicated to skating whether it's on the track or exploring a new skate spot. She hopes that along her travels she can positively impact others and break down barriers within the skate community.

Kathleen is also currently a park team skater for Juice Wheels North America and Derby Vixen Toe Guards.
